Grapples are being pulled from BR and Resurgence
Raven have confirmed it: Grappling Hooks are coming out of standard Battle Royale and Resurgence later this month. Not a nerf this time — removed.
The reasoning is one most of us have shouted at a screen about. Grapples let you reposition extremely aggressively for very little risk, especially around buildings and rooftops. Raven have tried to balance them across several seasons and it never took. And there's the glitch — the one where the hook catches on a surface and locks you in an animation you can't cancel. Even players who wanted grapples to stay wanted that gone.
What it means for us: holds get stronger and rotations get more expensive. Taking a roof off a team is about to cost real time and real cover instead of one piece of tac equipment. Third-partying a fight two buildings over stops being free. If you've been playing loose between compounds, tighten it — plan the rotation before you commit to it.
They aren't gone from the game entirely. Raven are keeping them in the faster, more chaotic modes built around that kind of movement, so Black Ops Royale and things like Season 5's 50v50 Heavy Metal Heroes still have them.
No exact date yet — Raven said "later this month," and it'll likely land in a smaller update ahead of Season 5 Reloaded in early September. We'll update the Armory when it drops.
